We are recruiting staff for Health Care Assistant roles within Operating Theatres at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. Health Care Assistants work as part of the team in our 15 operating Theatres including the following specialities Orthopaedics, Vascular, Gynae, Urology, Upper GI, Colorectal, Bariatrics, ENT, Max facs, Ophthalmology and our stand alone Day Surgery Centre.
The post holder will support the registered Theatre Practitioners within the peri-operative environment, performing duties within the Operating Theatre, this involves assisting the theatre and surgical teams with direct patient care. Other duties include performing documentation checks, escorting patients throughout the Department and communicating important information to the team in the Anaesthetic Room, Operating Theatre and PACU. You will make a contribution to the delivery of high quality, safe care with a focus on continually improving the patient experience. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our Theatre Team.
Theatre experience is preferable, experience as a HCA in an acute hospital trust is essential, a full induction programme will be provided. We offer a structured development programme and a supernumerary period; and we enforce the support given by ensuring that each candidate has a mentor / supervisor whilst they develop their skills. There is access to a wide range of development opportunities, a dedicated simulation fellow and practice educators working as part of the team, assisting with the delivery of bespoke multi-disciplinary training and development days.
This is an opportunity to work in the county town of Taunton, Somerset in the beautiful south west of England close to areas of outstanding natural beauty and easy access to the coast.
